‘The Wood Life’ stands as one of Mike’s favorite pitches, initially developed with Cartoon Network and later with Teletoon (now Cartoon Network Canada).

The Log-line 

An ambitious human boy and his easy-going wolf brother maintain their struggling barbershop, while clawing through all that life throws at them along the way. 

Ahooooooooooo… To Be Young! 

Willy had a pretty standard upbringing growing up in the Northern Woodlands, except for one tiny, hairy, little difference… HE WAS THE ONLY HUMAN IN A FOREST OF ANIMALS. 

Raised by wolves, Willy was surrounded by his fuzzy family which presented a unique opportunity; an unlimited amount of hair to practice cutting on. This sparked a passion and he eventually opening his own barbershop called THE SHEAR SHACK with the help of his best pal (and wolf brother from another mother) TIMBER. 

Although purposely ruffling the feathers of some of the Wild’s most unpredictable clientele is never as simple as it sounds, Willy eventually found his niche; giving the most impressive cuts to anyone who’d heard of his talents, and was able to find their ramshackle shack in the only plot of sparse land they could afford deep, deep, deep, off the beaten track….and then off of that track…and then around the swamp…and then…well you get the idea. 

But the Shear Shack is more than just a place to offer hair extraordinaire, it’s a home-base/clubhouse for Willy, Timber and their capable frog manager Perdle to work through their ever-expanding coming-of-age-adventures. That’s because despite scraping together enough assets to start a business, friendship is never easy, and these are still just a few pals growing up while facing all the life challenges that come with it.

Bare Bear is an animatic Mike put together back in 2014 (before the hit CN show ‘We Bare Bears’.) The concept was to develop an engaging interstitial program for pre-school children, aimed at fostering active participation and involvement.
